Studio boxes are back… and this year they are very special.
Every autumn/winter I run through my studio stash and make up some studio boxes with samples or surplus of fabric and paper printed, inks, pastes and various other creative items, ingredients I want to share around. Usually they are samples I made for classes and do not have a use for. The items are very much unique and hand made by me using a very sustainable process and extremely natural ingredients.
This year will be very special and the proceed of the sales will go towards the up-keep of “The Indigo Plot” my natural dye garden in the Glasgow Botanical Garden. This is a two years project where I will try and connect the public with natural dyes and show them how to connect plants with colours. I am planning a big Natural Dyes exhibition on 15/16/17th September in Glasgow – Scotland.
This year I am starting my studio boxes very early with a set of wool scarves I hand dyed in gorgeous Woad and Indigo vats, all home grown. Other items will be added as and when I get to that pile.
Those items will be with me at the creative craft fair in Glasgow on the 13-16 september.
